Study Shows 95 Percent of Women Would Change Thier Bodies
Research done by Girlguiding UK shows that 95 percent of girls ages 16 to 21 would change their bodies with 33 percent saying they wanted to be thinner and a quarter saying they would consider resorting to plastic surgery. Sad, huh?
The UK is even debating banning the technique of airbrushing so young girls won't be susceptible to unrealistic body types. "This report highlights the worrying number of teenage girls who are going on extreme diets or even considering cosmetic surgery because they're unhappy with the way they look,” she said, adding: “Airbrushing means that adverts now contain completely unattainable images that no-one can live up to in real life."
So many young women, including myself at one point, idolized the beautiful women on the covers of Elle and Glamour, but never did I know until years later that those women weren't real. Because today's society stresses a woman's appearance so much, teen girls put these models on pedestals and strive to look exactly like them - wrecking havoc on their bodies to do so. I wanted to share this study with you because it makes this issue concrete. It clearly is a problem and we as a society need to start doing something about it.
Let me know your thoughts on the results. Check out the full article and other findings here.

I admit before that I really wanted to have a slim body but not that super skinny. I hate being thin. A not so thin and not so fat figure will do. *winks*
